Python

Python is an interpreted, interactive, object-oriented programming language. It is often compared to Tcl, Perl, Scheme or Java.

Python combines remarkable power with very clear syntax. It has modules, classes, exceptions, very high level dynamic data types, and dynamic typing. There are interfaces to many system calls and libraries, as well as to various windowing systems (X11, Motif, Tk, Mac, MFC). New built-in modules are easily written in C or C++. Python is also usable as an extension language for applications that need a programmable interface.

The Python implementation is portable: it runs on many brands of UNIX, on Windows, OS/2, Mac, Amiga, and many other platforms. If your favorite system isn't listed here, it may still be supported, if there's a C compiler for it. Ask around on <a class="reference" href="news:comp.lang.python">news:comp.lang.python -- or just try compiling Python yourself.

The Python implementation is copyrighted but freely usable and distributable, even for commercial use.

This list is used to discuss PyQt and PyKDE, the Python bindings for Qt and KDE.

PyQt is a set of Python bindings for Trolltech's Qt application framework and runs on all platforms supported by Qt including Windows, MacOS/X and Linux. There are two sets of bindings: PyQt v4 supports Qt v4; and the older PyQt v3 supports Qt v3 and earlier. The bindings are implemented as a set of Python modules and contain over 300 classes and nearly 6,000 functions and methods.

PyBlosxom is a lightweight file-based weblog system. The project started as a Python clone of Blosxom but has since evolved into a beast of its own. PyBlosxom focuses on three things: simplicity, extensibility, and community. PyBlosxom can run in CGI environments, under Paste, and as a WSGI application. This mailing list is for users who are having problems installing or configuring PyBlosxom. It can also be used for questions, comments, bugs, ideas, and things of that nature as well. 67 274

This is a list dedicated to the discussion of development of IPython.

While bug reports can be discussed here, it is strongly encouraged that you use IPython's bug tracking system for that purpose. This will ensure that bug reports are duly followed until they are properly resolved.
